About the Rape Response Line
If I call, who will talk to me?
Rape Response staff are available to talk with you and answer your questions. Your call is confidential, and you will be under no obligation or pressure to make any decisions. You will be in total control of the conversation and any resulting decisions.
Why should I call Rape Pesponse instead of just going to an emergency room?
We are specially trained to handle sexual assault cases, where emergency rooms cover a wide variety of cases and will refer a client back to our facility if they do not have physical injury. Our Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner facility offers exams 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Can I use the services of Rape Response long after a rape occurred?
Yes, some survivors of sexual violence go months or years without reporting their rape or seeking medical attention. Individuals often contact Rape Response when they decide to seek help in dealing with their assault.
Can I call Rape Response if I am not the one that was raped?
Yes, sometimes we receive calls from a survivor's friend or family member, wanting to know how to best help a loved one who has been raped. For whatever reason, when you call there is someone always available to provide information and support.
Is there any cost to me for the call or the services provided by Rape Response?
No, all services are free.
