Support Groups
Survivors of Sexual Violence
The Survivors of Sexual Violence Support Group offers a safe, non-threatening setting for survivors of sexual violence to talk and process their feelings within a group setting. Issues such as trust, anger, grief, coping and survival strategies, and self-esteem are addressed.
The support group provides a safe and confidential setting for survivors to share their feelings and thoughts with others who have experienced the same trauma. Group members learn positive coping skills from each other in order to move into the role of "survivors" rather than "victims."
Our goal is that each survivor that participates in the group meetings receives both practical and emotional support regarding their sexual assault, as well as a realization that the assault was not their fault and that their reactions to the assault are normal.
To participate in this group, you must call the Rape Response Counselor at (205) 458-8984 to set up an intake appointment.
